Most Wanted: Books of April 2013

Hey guys, welcome to a brand new edition of "Most Wanted" my monthly feature of books that are coming out in the featured month that I want more than anything.

1. Rise (Eve #3) by Anna Carey

Release Date: April 2, 2013
Author: Anna Carey
Publisher: HarperTeen
Length: 320 pages

Summary from Goodreads:
How far will you go when you have nothing left to lose?

When she lost her soul mate, Caleb, Eve felt like her world had ended. Trapped in the palace, forced to play the part of the happy, patriotic princess of The New America—and the blushing bride of her father's top adviser—Eve's whole life is a lie. The only thing that keeps her going is Caleb's memory, and the revolution he started.

Now, Eve is taking over where Caleb left off. With the help of Moss, an undercover subversive in the King's court, she plots to take down The New America, beginning with the capital, the City of Sand. Will Eve be able to bring about a new, free world when she's called upon to perform the ultimate act of rebellion—killing her father?

In Rise, Eve must choose who to leave behind, who to save, and who to fight as Anna Carey's epic tale of romance and sacrifice in the chilling dystopia of The New America comes to a stunning conclusion.

Why I want it: I can't wait to read this final installment in the Eve trilogy. The cliffhanger of the previous one was utterly agonizing leaving me with a sense of dread for many characters and feeling sympathetic towards our heroine as she goes into something not for her sake but for those she wishes to protect.

2. The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass

Release Date: April 23, 2013
Author: Kiera Cass
Publisher: HarperTeen
Length: 336 pages

Summary from Goodreads:
The hotly-anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestseller The Selection.

Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Illea.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.

Why I want it: Since the first novel was on my Top 5 of 2012 list it's no wonder that this sequel makes my Most Wanted List for this month. Also, I've heard the author read the first chapter and if it's any indication this book will be as good if not better than the first.

3. Apollyon (Covenant #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Release Date: April 9, 2013
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Length: 360 pages

Summary from Goodreads:
Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

Why I want it: While I have yet to read this, apparently, amazing series I've been told how good it is and haven't seen a bad review that holds any merit. As I have just recently bought the first installment as well as the prequel novella I'm sure this will be joining my personal library soon.

4 The Program by Suzanne Young

Release Date: April 30, 2013
Author: Suzanne Young
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Length: 416 pages

Summary from Goodreads:
In Sloane’s world, true feelings are forbidden, teen suicide is an epidemic, and the only solution is The Program.

Sloane knows better than to cry in front of anyone. With suicide now an international epidemic, one outburst could land her in The Program, the only proven course of treatment. Sloane’s parents have already lost one child; Sloane knows they’ll do anything to keep her alive. She also knows that everyone who’s been through The Program returns as a blank slate. Because their depression is gone—but so are their memories.

Under constant surveillance at home and at school, Sloane puts on a brave face and keeps her feelings buried as deep as she can. The only person Sloane can be herself with is James. He’s promised to keep them both safe and out of treatment, and Sloane knows their love is strong enough to withstand anything. But despite the promises they made to each other, it’s getting harder to hide the truth. They are both growing weaker. Depression is setting in. And The Program is coming for them.

Why I want it: I find that a dystopian society that bans emotions due to fear of suicide is very intriguing and compels me to find out more. I love the idea of brainwashing to keep control and the thought of lost memories seems to foreshadow some pretty intense events.
